Today, August 13, is International Left-Handers’ Day, arguably one of the best days of the year. Finally, a day for 10 percent of the world to celebrate their creativity and how they overcome the very real struggle of being left handed.
Here are nine annoying things that lefties—even famous ones like Bill Gates, Oprah (!!), and President Obama—have to deal with.
1. Always Getting Stuck with a Right-Handed Desk
Where are you supposed to rest your elbow while writing?!

2. Bumping Elbows at the Dinner Table
People should really take hand dominance into consideration when planning out seating arrangements.
3. Hearing “Wow, You’re Left-Handed!” Every Time You Pick Up a Pen
Wow! This is news to you!
"You're left handed?" "No, I thought it would look original and hipster if I held my pen in my left hand" #lefthandersday

4. Not Being Able to Use Can-Openers
You learned the hard way that they don’t work upside down.
5. ...Or Scissors
Somehow, the paper just ends up all bent and crumpled.
Today is International Left Hander's Day and I won't stop spreading awareness until there are left handed scissors in every American home

6. Having a Spiral Imprint on Your Hand After Writing In a Notebook
No, you love having metal dig into your skin while you're taking notes!
7. Being Considered Demonic in Many Cultures
The German, Sanskrit, and Estonian words for “left” also mean “clumsy,” “wicked,” and “worse,” respectively.

8. Having to Mirror Instructors Instead of Just Following Along
Golf, tennis, and the guitar are especially tricky to learn.

9. The Hand Smudge
You know the one we're talking about.
